Elle Barry is a mixed-media artist whose love of color, design
and sparkle have taken her down many paths: Paper and surface
decoration; fiber and fabric (with and without her favorite-
“glass beads”), and collage, as well as polymer clay; artist
books; boxes; and jewelry.
She’s lived in
St. Augustine 19 years since relocating from Anchorage, AK where
she had been for over 20 years and began her significant,
perhaps compulsive affair with beads and although she’s managed
to “branch out” into the use of other materials and disciplines,
she’s always lured back to the aesthetic of beads – their
colors, textures, and shapes.
When not
beading, she loves to explore the reactions and unpredictability
of mixing water media with other materials. She says she is
willing to forfeit control for the unexpected and unplanable.
Elle continues to nourish her artistic spirit with discoveries
of ever evolving techniques and plenty of playing around.
